Since its formation in 1947, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police Department (MSP APD) has worked to provide and promote a safe and secure environment for all of MSP’s users, including an internationally diverse customer base of 39 million annual passengers and 21,000 airport employees. The MSP APD serves the entire airport campus including patrolling the highways surrounding the airport, parking ramps, terminal buildings, roadways, and curbside areas. The department works closely with many federal agencies such as the Transportation Security Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Customs and Border Patrol, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to help ensure safety and security. The MSP APD is comprised of approximately 175 employees which include full-time officers, part-time officers assigned to the terminal checkpoints, community service officers, and civilian administrative positions. It also includes the Emergency Communications Center (ECC), which is our own 9-1-1 dispatch center located on airport property. We are currently celebrating serving our unique community for over 75 years!
