The Poquoson Police Department is located in the City of Poquoson in the southeastern section of Virginia. The department serves approximately 13,000 residents. Poquoson sits next to NASA and Langley Air Force Base and is approximately 60 square miles. Once inhabited by Native Americans, Poquoson is pronounced "Po-co-son" and means "the great marsh."
2020 is Poquoson Police Department's first year participating in the Pink Patch Project, but we are excited to be a part of something so noble. A lot of our officers have been touched by breast cancer, both in their personal lives and professionally. We were inspired by the nearby Williamsburg Police Department to take part in this and we hope to spark interest in other Hampton Roads law enforcement agencies.
This first year will be dedicated to the memory of Cheryl Ann Fox (1956-2016) who passed away after a short battle with breast cancer. Cheryl was the mother of Lt. James Fox of the Poquoson Police Department and was an avid supporter of law enforcement.
