Riverside County Department of Public Social Services, Special Investigations Unit, was established in 1967 and is dedicated to the investigation and prosecution of those who commit welfare fraud. Made up of mostly Welfare Fraud Investigators, who are sworn Peace Officers under the State of California Penal Code section 830.35, the Special Investigations Unit conducts fraud investigations, internal investigations, and locate runaway children under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Social Services.
Our commemorative pink patch has special significance. The photo in the center is a Riverside County building with a front pathway that represents our commitment to public service. The background flag is representative to our role as plain clothes Investigators and the pink lettering represents breast cancer awareness. This will be our first year participating in Pink Patch Project and proceeds will be donated to Michelle’s Place in Temecula Ca. Michelle’s Place is a full service cancer resource center that provides free programs and services to individuals and families impacted by all types of cancer.?ÿ
