Description:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Rochelle Police Department has once again partnered with the Pink Patch Project to sell pink patches and clothing to raise money for breast cancer awareness during the month.
This month has special meaning to Officer Ryan Kovacs because his mother, Tammy Kovacs, passed away in 2015 after a 5 year battle with breast cancer. Tammy was the Treasurer at South Elgin High School before she passed. When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, her fellow co-workers stepped up and organized a t-shirt fundraiser to raise money for Tammy. The t-shirts featured the words “HOPE” on the front that were filled with positive words. Our shirts have “HOPE” on them too. Since this fundraiser is in her memory, we thought it was fitting to connect it back to the original fundraiser for her.
For our 2nd annual Rochelle PD Pink Project fundraiser we will once again be selling t-shirts and patches. New to this year, we will also be selling raffle tickets.
The T-shirts are blue with a pink Rochelle PD badge on the chest and “Rochelle Police Department” circling a pink Breast Cancer ribbon with “HOPE” on it on the back.
We will be selling raffle tickets to help raise money. Only 500 will be sold. First prize is a beautiful handmade, wooden pink line flag with a breast cancer ribbon. Second prize will be another handmade wooden blue line flag. Third prize will be a t-shirt and pink patch. Both flags were made by Officer Sydney Jackson who generously donated them to support the fight against breast cancer.
T-shirts, patches and raffle tickets can be purchased at the Rochelle Illinois Police where we have sizes Small to XXL. Patches and Raffle Tickets are $10.00 and T-shirts are $25.00. Cash or check is accepted (Make checks payable to Rochelle PD Pink Project)
Patches, raffle tickets, t-shirts and other items like long sleeves and hoodies can be purchased at 926 Custom Embroidery 404 Lincoln Hwy, Rochelle, IL 61068. If you aren’t able to make it in to place an order, you can call 926 Custom Embroidery and place an order via phone and they will ship the order to you for an additional charge. All proceeds will be donated back to the Rochelle PD Pink Project.
At the end of the month, all proceeds will be donated to the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva, IL. The Living Well Center provides services and support to those battling cancer. It is free to anyone fighting cancer and its where Tammy went during her fight.
