In 2017, the Rosemount Police Department became the first agency in Minnesota to join the Pink Patch Project. Rosemount, in Dakota County, is an outer ring suburb of the Twin Cities with a population of approximately 26,000. The police department (while small at the time) can trace it’s history back to the 1870’s and has currently has 30 officers and patrols a 36 square mile area.
The RPD Pink Patch Project raises money for American Cancer Society and annually participates in their local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at the Mall of America. At the end of October the Rosemount Police Department is hosting the first annual RPD Pink Patch Project Law Enforcement Collectables show in which admission and table fees will also be donated to ACS. Pink Patch agencies from across Minnesota are invited to come sell their Pink Patch merchandise at the show. Since 2017, Rosemount has raised over $17k for ACS.
